From the Seller:
Striking colorful antique Victorian wool paisley challis dress circa mid to upper 1800s! The coloring is fantastic along with the ornate floral paisley design. The gathered skirt has a large sweep with a hidden right side pocket! A great addition to any antique clothing collector or to wear as this dress is in rare near mint condition! Possibly Victorian maternity dress as well.

The dress closes up from waist with eye/hooks. There is the typical opening extending down from center waistline. The bodice with exception of sleeves is lined with brown cotton along with the skirt's inner hemline.

Coloring most true to 9th photo - it looks more orange in the pics that aren't close-up.

Best Fit: L - XL
Bust: 45"
Waist: 35"
Hip: Free
Length: 52" (front hem) an 56" (back hem)

Condition: Near mint / excellent antique condition!
I found 5 small hole/snags to the fabric. The neckline isn't perfectly straight across.

From Me
OH MY GOODNESS. The gift that keeps on giving. Normally dresses labelled maternity are later 1860's and just high waisted, this one is actually at the natural waist in the back and brought higher in the front. The difference in height from the front to the back gives indication of a true maternity garment. With this in mind, its also not a wrapper, but a dress. A wrapper would have either no lining or a fitted linig that is not connected at the waist. The fitted area on a wrapper rarely extends this long, and when it does it is gathered into the fitted bodice area rather than pleated.
