antique sleeveless 1860's black top fragile From the Seller antique sleeveless top-found in a box with writing "black waist top from wedding dress-1868" (box not included) no tags or labels excessive distress from age, use, storing etc.-has several holes and is very fragile (most likely NOT wearable) measures approx. 17.5" across underarms, 15.5" back length please use zoom to view enlarged distress and damage detailing sold as shown as described in a fragile condition From the Industrious Lady What nice about this item is that it is labeled. So few original items come with a story of its use and age. A black wedding dress might astound us now but during the era any nice dress would be commandeered for duty for its lady's special day. White dresses were first made fashionable by Queen Victoria and fashion magazines from the era also pushed for the use of white dresses for weddings, but this item just goes to show that ju...

ANTIQUE CIVIL WAR ERA DAY DRESS c.1860 VICTORIAN VINTAGE From the Seller This listing is for an original lady's silk day dress from the Civil War period. It's made of mauve taffeta with a white windowpane check. The dress features a darted bodice with coat-shaped sleeves. The sleeves are trimmed with Chantilly lace and beads. The bodice is lined with brown cotton similar to the skirt facing. It fastens with hooks/eyes and has several ornamental buttons. The skirt has a pocket and facing, but is un-lined. It closes at left front. There is evidence that the sleeve trim is a period update as the sleeves were narrowed at the same time. This could be reversed if desired, but the trim is quite charming and it IS 1860s. The dress displays beautifully and is a fantastic example of early Civil War fashion! The collar and pin are not included. Condition: Small holes scattered throughout with some areas of damage near ...

Faint underarm discoloration and missing lower hooks and green tassels. Bust 31" Waist 24" Across back seam to seam 17" Length 18" From the Industrious Lady: IT may have been still worn in 1860 but this dress is probably closer to 1855, and could eve be a remade 1840's dress. That front is just begging to come down to a point in the front. It does appear to be longer in the front than the back. Really loving the use of bias binding to finish the sleeves. Fir...
